RUNNIN AWAY FROM THE DARK !!!

He lights up his nights
& he lights up the skies
He lights up the world that he sees
But he keeps telling me things
I just can’t bet for or
I could believe
He says he can’t see
The spilled over beams
From the downtown halls
That reveal
The deprived who
Loiter across sidewalks

He can’t hear he says
The thirsty moans
He can’t see he says
The starved faces
That lay a few paces from his urbane cart
That he uses to
Run away from the dark

He returns back indoors
As the night falls
Secure and safe behind his doors,
On his well sheltered floors and well lit halls
I believe
He wants to conceal
From the misery he sees
& the agony that consumes his brains
From not very far

He locks himself in
Once again
Shying away from the dark

He loves to see his terraces sparkle and shine
With lanterns & chandeliers lined
But I am dumbfound to see him so cold
To the torches that burn
Among the shivering souls
Across on the roads
He’s back in `n` we can’t stop him
Running away from the dark
