THE STEP AHEAD

I Got Paid For My Works
My Mind Made Me Feel
I Was On Top
My Eyes Ceased To View
The Stars above Them
All They Did Was
Keep Staring Down

I Flaunted My Pride
On Young `N` Old
They Fancied Their Feet
Being Firm on the Ground
Till He Said “Wake Up Son
Have a Look Around
You Aint the Only One

You Took Your Troubles
So You Got Paid
Look Out Son!
There’s always A Step Ahead”

I Didn’t Like It Much,
But I Couldn’t Hold a Grudge
So I Kept Hanging With My Friends
Where I`D Feel Mesmerized
As I Kept Hearing My Own Praise

I Had To Jump In the Fray
With My Work
Soon I Saw Many Backs In The Front
I Feared My Work Had Me Betrayed
My Ego Was Inconsolable
As It Learnt That
I Was Just Then
An Equal among Equals

Looking Back At My Modest Success
I Had To Give In Then
To The Fact That
People Exist In This World
To Dare You
On Every Step Ahead
